Essential Criteria
• Registered nurse
• Certified midwife
• Accredited Child and Family Health Certificate
• Immunisation accreditation or willingness to obtain
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Primary health care
• Knowledge and understanding of the issues that impact on Aboriginal people and Aboriginal communities
• Working with Children and Criminal Record check clearances and a current NSW Drivers Licence
Desirable Criteria
• Minimum 12 months experience in Child and Family Health
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
• Computer literate
The Maternal and Child Health Nurse provides direct patient contact and clinical support in Maternal and Child Health. The role covers all areas of maternal and child health including immunisations, developmental and maternal screening, and advice on parenting, settling and behavioural management.
The Nurse position is integral to the health promotional activities of the program and quality improvements aimed at improving Indigenous health in the communities we service.
The Maternal and Child Health Nurse reports directly to the Team Leader for the Healthy for Life Program.
