Marang Dhali – Eating Well Program at Wellington Primary School

Throughout June and July, Wellington Primary School, in collaboration with WACHS, kindly hosted Western New South Wales Local Health District Program ‘Marang Dhali – Eating Well Program’. The program saw a total of 8 participants, including mothers, fathers and grandparents, attend the weekly program to learn to prepare nutritious, cost effective, family friendly meals.

Participants enjoyed the social environment and ability to share recipes, cooking tips and their experiences while opening up a conversation about every day healthy eating. At the end of the program, participants were provided with a basic cooking equipment and a number of recipes for recreation at home. The program was run to complement the work WPS is doing to improve the quality of student’s lunchboxes as part of their ‘Lunchbox Project’. Participants indicated interest in participating in future programs.
