River to Retention

In partnerships with Wellington Public School and Goanna Woodworks, WACHS SEWB Team, (Child & Family program) we have been able to deliver the River to Retention program during Term 1 (concept by WHS 2018).

This program is used to engage students and encourage the attendance rate of Aboriginal students within our schools using culture as the basis of education and learning.

The program builds resilience and confidence in youth and connects them with support workers and mentors that have the skills and connections that support children;

  • Stay connected in school
  • Use cultural practices to connect positively with peers
  • Improve communication skills with mentors and teachers
  • Create resources that reflect family values

SEWB Team would like to say a very big thank you to Wellington Public School staff and students and Timothy Naden at Goanna Woodworks for a great program Term 1.
